Medical

Medical clients often have unusual requirements for production test equipment and assembly fixtures. What is even more interesting are their unique needs for training products and devices which their field personal can use to demonstrate concepts or techniques.

Excimer Laser Clinical Training Device

This Excimer Laser Clinical Training Device was created to assist field clinicians in teaching surgeons the differences in cardiac arterial occlusion abatement between balloon, HeNe, and cold Excimer laser angioplasty.

The device allows visual presentation of the difference in energy absorption and thus peripheral arterial wall damage between HeNe and Excimer lasers. Additionally, the product incorporates a special force gage which simulates the "feel" of the Excimer catheter within the artery and displays if proper pressure is being induced by the surgeon. This feature helps doctors understand the fundamental operational difference between balloon and Excimer laser occlusion abatement.

The Liz Wiz

The "LizWiz" pictured is a low cost un-terminated wire to finished connector trace identifier.

Production support and in process testing for medical applications take on some interesting requirements. Often the specifications and test goals are simple and straight forward, but sometimes the language of medicine and the language of electronics create unique barriers to efficient information exchange. Over the years we have learned to "dig" for the real requirements of these clients and provide them as many reasonable options as possible. Through extensive discussions, coupled with sincere willingness to understand their concerns we have been successful at creating cost attractive and effective solutions.

5 Channel wave front Cardiac catheter analyzer

This five channel wave front cardiac catheter analyzer represents a considerably more sophisticated production test system. This unit utilizes four wire Kelvin resistance measurement techniques to accurately characterize the electrical properties of the Device Under Test, (DUT). Additionally, the unit compares each measurement to ensure it falls within a low-high compliance range. Finally the system tests the DUT for correct distal to proximal termination as well as for opens and channel to channel shorts.

Experimental Dual Chamber Programmable Pump

This dual chamber, variable displacement, variable cycle rate pump, was created for use in medical research. The client needed this piece of gear very quickly. The entire process, from initial telephone discussions to shipping, was a mere forty-eight days. It features front panel programmability of displacement volumes and cycle rates.

Advanced Experimental Dual Chamber Programmable Pump

This experimental dual channel programmable pump is the evolutionary derivative of the mechanical displacement pump system.

The mechanical cylinder pumps have been replaced by electromechanical valves and pressure regulators connected to either "house air" or a compressed Nobel gas supply. Additionally, swift device deflation is provided by an internal vacuum reservoir supported by an on board pump.

All functions and parameters, with the exception of pressure regulation, are controlled and set by custom electronics and a menu driven interface. Pressure regulation is achieved by conventional, precision mechanical regulators.

All user information is presented on two different menu screens and a complement of analog pressure and vacuum gauges.

To afford advanced research and modeling beyond the initial scope of the project specifications, the internal electronics may be instructed to "hand over" system control to an external parallel port. This port may be controlled by such software/hardware solutions as National Instruments LabView, ADVANTECH Geni or other propriety configurations.
